Lessons Learned, Lessons to Take With Me

an entry from 9/20/11

Dear Journal,

Wow reading through all of that was weird. It's crazy how my life was turned upside down in a matter of 2 days after my last entry. But here I am, in a much better place now. Being kicked off the team sucked but I think it saved me from a lot of worse things happening later on. And taught me a lot too. Everything happens for a reason. Attitude in the face of tough times is essential. And respecting myself and others. As well as integrity and keeping your word. And how good I have it. And how family is always there for you. Never hesitate to lean on them. Your life is up to you- you have the power of choice! What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Working for the good of others. Compromising for the good of the team. Partying isn't everything. Confidence not cockiness. Sadly I'm not invincible. People notice how you treat others. Serve. Dedication takes responsibility. Owning up to your actions. Love others. Recognizing your mistakes and learning how to do better next time. Pick your battles. Not everyone will like you. Do not worry about things you can't control. Keeping your goal in mind. Take risks but not stupid ones. Use your head. Forgive. Respect leaders, even if you disagree. Obey the contract. Don't fall into peer pressure. One day at a time. Live with a purpose. Don't burn the day. Look at the past but don't stare. Family first. Refrain from gossiping. Laugh often. Appreciate the good in your life. Don't dwell on the bad. Smile. :)

Some are cliche but I find these are lessons I need to keep with me.
